I have been making artwork from nature for over ten years . For the first five years I developed artwork using pressed wildflowers. In the past three years I have produced silver jewelry from leaves. I received my certification for Precious Clay from Rio Grande. This has allowed me to become more creative and share my love of nature in an attractive and unusual way.
Precious Metal Clay (PMC) in paste form is applied to the underside of leaves and allowed to dry. This is repeated until the desired thickness is achieved. The Leaves are kiln fired and the clay and binders burn away and the PMC bonds into pure silver. After tumbling and polishing, fastenings are added to individual leaves. Multiple leaves are bonded together to make more complicated designs. While some of the chains used for pendants are hand made, some are purchased.
My Mission Statement Is :
I am creating nature jewelry, making one of a kind wearable art, for all people to enjoy and to appreciate the beauty and importance of preserving and caring for the precious world we live in.
